This game has several rules. PLEASE read them and enjoy the game! Below the plot section are the game rules for the board!
Foreword/Plot:
The Reapers' Game is a one-week competition in which those who have died may participate. Each potential participant is approached shortly after their passing and is given the choice to play. Every contestant is called a Player and is given a player pin as a sign of his or her entry. To enter in the game every player has to pay an 'entry fee', that is taken by the conductor. The player pin lets the holder read the mind of any person not carrying a player pin, an ability called "Scanning".
Every Player must give up whatever is dearest to them in order to participate. This entry fee can be physical, such as mementos or people, or more physical or immaterial such as one's appearance, dreams, or memories.
At the beginning of a game, each player must forge a Pact with another player to prevent attack and to be able to use psychs. Each player pairing must then survive seven days or be erased in the process. Missions are orders given by the Reapers to players on a day-to-day basis, but they can be issued over a longer period (a six day mission, for example), or not be issued at all.
Players are only able to stay awake for a certain amount of time each day. If a mission is completed by any Player pairing, all Players that survived move onto the next day. However, Players can be erased by Noise or by failing the mission.
Our game rules:
1. Create a Character. Use the Application Sheet in the Rules board to send in through PM to The Composer.
2. You may have 7 in-game days to win the game, but the time you have for each day will actually be several days in real life. Your timer may, for example, say "16 minutes". You will have a few days to post and roleplay this out.
The timer at the top of the forum is the time you have until the day ends in game. IF YOU DO NOT FINISH THE DAY IN GAME, YOUR CHARACTER WILL BE ERASED. This means, the character dies. This will either be due to a death in a fight, failure to do a mission, or simply running out of time. If you don't post for a few days, you may miss precious posting time and end up missing the deadline for that day. SO BE CAREFUL.
-IF YOU WILL BE AWAY FOR A WHILE BUT WISH TO CONTINUE PLAYING, EITHER ALLOW YOUR PARTNER TO PLAY THE CHARACTER OR THE GM. BUT BE WARNED, YOUR CHARACTER MAY DIE IN YOUR ABSENCE.
3. Some battles, puzzles, or events will be settled through PM only. So check often! This is to prevent cheating. All players involved will post with the Game Master or The Composer until completion of the event/battle. At that time, the GM or Composer will compile all posts into one and post it on the main thread.
4. ONLY ONE PERSON OR TEAM CAN WIN EACH WEEK. However, this does not mean anyone HAS to win. There may be weeks where NO ONE makes it to the end, or gets the prize. It happens. In the event of such a week, the next week will start and new characters can be submitted. (there will be role play exceptions to this is it comes up. But don't plan on everyone making it to the end).
5. STAY IN CHARACTER. Characters develop over time, yes, but if your character is dumb as a rock, they shouldn't be cracking physics problems with ease. Even if YOU can in real life.
6. Each player may have a Reaper character. If you have a character who is playing through the game, you can NOT play your reaper that round (week). It would be unfair, as you would have information on all puzzles, goals, and reapers in the game. It'd suck if someone used that against you, right? So we won't let anyone use it against anyone else either.
7. Remember to have fun. This is a GAME.
FOR REAPERS:
1. Remember that your primary goal is to kill the players! This is as much a game for you as it is for them. Their task is to survive. Yours is to kill. However, that brings us to rule 2...
2. You will have assignments from the week's Game Master. FOLLOW THEM. Play your character, of course, but if the GM says "don't kill anyone today" or "don't interfere with (insert player name here)" that becomes your primary goal. Try and stick to it (but again, play your character)
3. If you do well as a Reaper, you may submit your own plan to be a Game Master. You must come up with a concept, a 'cantis' and puzzles. You must present it as formally as you can, stating why you believe your plan should be put into effect. If your plan is accepted, you will be one week's Game Master. When you are awarded this honor, the specifics will be explained.
4. There is a Reaper Lounge. Use it. It's a social rp area. Where the players get full plots dedicated to them every week, the Reapers take a back seat for plot.. to even the odds, and and because Reapers don't expire at the end of the game-week, we can have continuous stories play out over the course of several weeks. Even if you are playing a character in the game that week, you may play your Reaper in the Lounge only. This is a social-only board, so it will not spoil the game or make the odds uneven at all.
5. The Assignments from the Game Master will be issued in the board under the appropriate week. Go there for your assignments, a map of the area (what areas are and are not available for Player access) and to see the plan for the week. This is password locked. When you have been approved as a Reaper, you will be given this password. Do NOT give this out to anyone, no matter who they are. And if you play a character in the game at a later date, do not use this password to peek at the assignments. This is cheating and if I catch anyone doing this, I'll have to rotate passwords to prevent it.
